Our Events

Book Club

Tuesday Nights
17:00-19:00

Current Book: Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson

A little about us: We are a drop in book club that meets Tuesday nights from 17:00-19:00 to discuss books (or parts of books), eat snacks, and generally have a nice time.

If you’re looking for a friendly group of readers, and don’t mind the sound of an espresso machine, you are in the right place!

Craft Night

On Wednesdays We Craft!

Wednesday Nights
18:00-21:00

Join us Wednesday Evenings (18:00-21:00) for crafts! What crafts are we doing? That depends! We offer a mix of drop in nights where you can work on your current projects or follow along with and rotating mix group-led crafts.

The last Tuesday of every month is a special guest workshop that will lead you through a more complex or detailed project, it’s a great way to try out new crafts and learn new skills!

Open Mic Night

Friday Nights
Signup: 17:30
Show: 18:00

Friday night’s the night to mic!…Openly?…Ok, I admit it’s a bad joke, but the good news is that I don’t tell jokes at the open mic, you might, but I (due to popular demand) have promised not to.

Are you working on a tight-5, have a few songs you want to try in front of an audience, a monologue you love, experimental performance art that needs testing, amateur magic act? This is a great place for that!

Signup starts at 17:30, and performances start at 18:00.
(Signup is done in person with the volunteers at the door, to ensure priority goes to those who can actually attend that nights event.)

If you’re interested in volunteering please email me at openmic@pretendemail.com, include your area of interest and contact information so we can reach out.

Poetry Slam/Spoken Word Night

Thursday Nights
Doors/Signup: 18:30
Show: 19:00

Every poetry night consists of 2 halves, an open mic style first half where anyone is welcome to get up on the mic and get some practice. And a second half where we will feature a local spoken word poet.

Every fall we swap one night per month over to a competitive poetry slam the winners of which will go on to form Victoria’s slam team and compete nationally! Stay tuned for more details surrounding rules, signup, volunteer opportunities, and event dates later in the year!
